09) Will compulsory reporting improve sustainability efforts by companies in Singapore?
Sustainability reporting is soon to become mandatory for certain groups of companies in Singapore. Since standards have been in place such as the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and a push from the UN Global Compact and its affiliations, sustainability reporting has become progressively more popular among Singapore companies. However, the number of companies embarking on such reporting has remained relatively low in the country. Do you think mandatory reporting will drive positive change or is it merely an obligation for companies to report without much expected outcome beyond the reports?
